Summer Break by Ms. George

Summer Break - How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:

1. No trabajo, obvio. (Translation: Obviously, I don't work.)

2. BBQs - What's not to love? Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dips, veggie trays, and to top it off, popsicles.

3. Swimming. Okay, let's be honest - more laying out than swimming. Imagine, laying on an over-sized towel until beads of sweat appear all over you body. Then jumping into the pool just to get out and do it all over again.

4. Summer Fashion - I'm not a big fan of shorts (in fact, I only own one pair and they're actually my brothers) but, I do love short skirts, summer dresses, sandals, and pedicures.

5. Two words - Road Trip.

6. Summer Blockbusters - You know what I'm talking about; ridiculously over-budgeted movies with even more ridiculous plots. I love them!!

7. Quintessential Americana - baseball games, parades, fireworks, camping (and when I say camping, I mean going up the canyon, roasting marshmallows, and returning home that evening).

8. A return to my nocturnal ways. Seriously, is it normal to go to bed at 10:30 pm? NO! 3:00 am? Yes, that's more like it.

9. It almost goes without saying, but the weather. For those who know me, you know I'm almost always cold. However, for three glorious months - June, July, & August - my teeth rarely chatter.

10. Summer Reading. Yes, I actually get to read books that weren't written for teenagers. I know, it's almost unheard of.

Series by Jared

Scary sounds that I fear to hear.
The sound of hearing a family emergency call.
Pounding sounds against my front door.
Hearing the sounds of family and friends in danger.
Hearing the sound when the green line goes flat.
I hope I will never encounter those sounds.

Two Tone Poem by Jared

I am the color of the dark gray
lonely night, silent and helpless,
sad and at the same time mad.

I am also blue like the empty ocean sea living
without color, empty without colors
that make me happy like a happy beach
reef, full of happy colorful fish and happy
all time

But dont worry about me because
some times I am fine

When I got my Rabbit by Liesel

When I was 13 years old I got a rabbit for my Birthday. I named her Brown Nose. She is white with brown spots on her back. When I pet her she feels like a soft blanket. The reason I named her Brown Nose was because her nose is brown.

I love chasing her around the backyard. When I let Brown Nose out of her cage I put her on the ground or she just jumps out of my arms. After I let Brown Nose out I go in the house for like 4 hours and then I go back out and start to chase her around the backyard. When I chase Brown Nose I have to run fast because she hops so fast it's hard to catch her. Sometimes when I chase her I slip and fall in the snow and I get snow in my mouth. When I get up I have to look for her because she can blend in with the snow or she is under the tree. Sometimes when I'm looking for Brown Nose I have to make a sound or I have to yell her name because if she hears me she will move. That's how I find her and then I can catch her. I finally found Brown Nose under the tree so I reached under there and grabbed her. Then when I was taking Brown Nose to the cage she bit me because she didn't want to go in her cage. When I put her in the cage I got rabbit fur in my mouth. That's the story how I got my rabbit Brown Nose.

Going Shopping by Angelina

This summer Camila and I went to the mall to buy a gift for Raul. When we got there we looked around at Meyer and Frank. There were a lot of people looking for clothes and talking on their cell phones. The workers were talking with the customers. We didn't find anything so we went to GAP. We looked at all the guy's clothes. We saw shoes. They had black shoes, white shoes, and fancy shoes, but we decided not to buy any. Next we went to check the pants, but we did not know if Raul was going to like them and we did not know his size so we decided not to get any pants. That last thing we looked at was the shirts. There were a lot of shirts. They had long sleeves, and a lot of colors on them. We saw one of the shirts. It was black with white lines and it had shorts sleeves. My friend liked it too. We bought that one and wrapped it in a present. It was hard to find the present, but it was fun.

Two-Tone By Angelina

Some days I am Hot pink.
When I am happy and funny or energetic.
Other days I am black.
When I am tired or mad and sad.
Today I am both because I feel both ways.
